Nate Wilbourne

Aotearoa is home to an incredible diversity of species, being the ‘seabird capital’ of the world to having an abundance of flightless birds, our country is truly spectacular.

Through my work, I connect with other passionate leaders to drive and create change. I generally work “in the field” where I am hands-on working to protect & restore the whenua.

I have been involved in a wide range of projects from climate campaign/advocacy work to working on the ground protecting our native, endangered species.

All while taking photos of the precious taonga species & places I find across Aotearoa.

I’m Nate Wilbourne, a 16-year-old Conservation & Climate Justice Advocate from Aotearoa.

What do I do?

I work in the conservation & climate space. I’m an activist, educator, speaker, and photographer, with an underlying passion for protecting our wildplaces.

Conservation

9 times out of 10, you’ll find me off the beaten track trapping pests, planting trees, or admiring the wonderful backyard I get to call home. To live in Aotearoa - we must also protect it.

Public Speaking

I have a variety of talks that I present at events and to groups. My talks focus on sustainability, connecting with nature, and how to become a leader to influence positive changes.

Photography

I capture and create images that express Aotearoa’s unique nature, wild places, and the taonga that inhabit them. My goal is to inspire people to get out and explore Papatūānuku.

But how can we expect youth to take action for the planet when they’ve had little to no experience with being in the outdoors?
